About Amy
Biography
(this is from Amy's web site)
Hi my name is Amy Faye Hayes from the metro Detroit area of Michigan. I was born in Wyndotte Michigan along the Detroit river on November 24 1973. My parents Morris and Freda Hayes raised me in Southgate where I graduated from Southgate Anderson High School. Growing up I was a total Tom Boy and played Softball for 10 years and Basketball for 6 years. My entire family are from Southeastern Kentucky (Floyd County) where I was fortunate to spend a lot of time growing up. My mom and dad made a great life for themselves in spite of their humble beginnings in the Appalachian Mountains. It is their guts and hard work that have inspired me to become something myself and be thankful for what I have. I would like to dedicate my Web site to them and to all of my wonderful family who have supported me and cheered me on every step of the way. I am extremely lucky to have been born into a family that is real and genuine. We love each other no matter how many times we mess up. It's true unconditional love! Don't let me fool you, we are definitely not perfect. Keep in mind we are Hill Billy's...ha ha!
A lot of my friends like to call me by my middle name "Faye", and some like to call me Amy Faye. I'd like to share with you where I received such a pretty middle name. Faye was my late aunts name (Faye Kemp) Sadley who passed away from cancer 11 years ago. She was a very strong woman and exceptionally beautiful. I wish that she were here with me today to share in all the adventures I am having. I appreciate her more today than I did back then, and I'm honored to be named after such a courageous woman! We really miss you aunt Faye............
You might ask, "Where am I today and what am I up to?". I'm in the Bluegrass State and the Horse Capital of the world, Lexington Kentucky living with my parents. This is not to say I've given up on Michigan. I simply needed to change gears for awhile. It's so beautiful here and I'm in heaven since I'm a horse lover. I love riding and even just the opportunity to be around them makes me feel peaceful. My other obsession is Kentucky Basketball, so let's just say I'm enjoying my time in Lexington. I'll always consider myself a "Motor City Mama" but I guess I'll always be a little bit country.
Things are moving right along in my Ring Announcing career and I have fights scheduled several times a month. I have been in Broadcasting for about 5 years now and have worked at several radio stations including Radio X in Flint, Honey Radio in Detroit and co-hosted many events with Detroit's Home of Rock'n Roll 101 WRIF! In 1995 I graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcast arts. I also modeled for ten years, but now focus on announcing and spokesperson work.
Last but not least I'd like to tell you about a brand new project I'm involved with. I'll be writing a weekly column called "Out of the Box" at www.sportsfansww.com and joining the affiliated radio morning show covering the off the field antics of some of your favorite sports figures. Be sure to check it out!!!!!
